Houghton Group - A proud family-run business, comprising 3 specialist departments: Houghton Building Houghton Electrical Houghton Renewables Houghton & Son is an established family business which is based in Chelmsford in Essex and has been in operation since the early 1970’s. The company was founded by Mr. J Houghton who was a fully qualified electrical engineer. He formed Houghton Electrical and was succeeded by his son; Ian Houghton who has carried on the family tradition in electrical engineering. The company was rebranded in 1992 as Houghton & Son Ltd. Ian has expanded the company over the years to its current successful position. Today, the company continues to grow and is making a name as a go-to main contractor for contracts and projects within Public Sector, Educational Sector and many Private Sector clients. We take pride in the fact that our business has been built on the traditional value of excellent workmanship, and in the high quality jobs that we complete for our satisfied customers. We are delighted to now have Jamie, Ryan and Lewis Houghton onboard, as our valued third generation and who continue to expand and develop the company under their father’s guidance.
