Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam

Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam was founded in 2010 with the objective to break the world speed record for human powered vehicles. For this purpose, students from Delft University of Technology and VU University Amsterdam develop and race highly aerodynamic recumbent bicycles. Ambition became reality in September 2013, when Sebastiaan Bowier reached a top speed of 133.78 km/h in the VeloX 3, during the World Human Powered Speed Challenge in Battle Mountain (Nevada, U.S.). At this moment, the team is developing the VeloX TX, the tenth iteration in our high-tech line of racing machines. The VeloX TX is a tandem. With our four athletes we are aiming to break the male world speed record which is currently held by Todd Reichert at 144.17 km/h. This is a truly multidisciplinary challenge: engineers from the TU Delft design and build the VeloX, while movement scientist from the VU Amsterdam are in charge of driver selection and training. This close collaboration makes us unique among the student teams.
