The Hydraulics Research Institute (HRI), Delta Barrage, Egypt, is one of the twelve institutes within the National Water Research Center (NWRC) of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI). HRI was established in 1975 to take over and extend the work of the Hydraulic Research Station founded in 1947.
Ever since 1947, HRI has been involved in most of the Hydraulic Structures and Irrigation Projects and related studies executed in Egypt. Besides, HRI has a wide experience in the broader fields of Hydraulic Structures, River and Canal Engineering, Navigation, Coastal Engineering, and the design of Cooling Systems of Power Plants. It is essential to mention that HRI is considered as one of the Egyptian Institutions that has the most practical experience with respect to the Nile River, canals, and shores of Egypt.
