Healthy Start Initiative (HSI) is a contemporary, science-driven nonprofit advancing early childhood health and development—especially for children at risk of developmental disabilities in low- and middle-income countries. Founded in Nigeria, we address urgent but often overlooked neonatal challenges like jaundice, cerebral palsy, and early-life developmental delays. Through rigorous research, low-cost innovations, and scalable solutions, we’re reimagining newborn care in communities where the need is greatest. Our tools—like the two-colour icterometer—translate evidence into action. Our mission combines innovation, policy advocacy, and training to empower caregivers, health professionals, and governments.
