Human Anti-Trafficking Response Team - HART

Along with board members Tamara Bahry, Debbie McGrath and Carol Wildgoose, HART has focused on raising awareness of sex trafficking in Canada and supporting the victims who survive it. In November 2020, HART was proud to partner with Women’s College Hospital to develop Canada’s first comprehensive programs to deal with sex trafficking and the related physical and mental health needs of survivors. In addition to providing care and counselling within WCH, the HART- funded research initiative will gather and analyze data with a goal of developing targeted healthcare responses, leveraging expertise alongside other institutions and service provider partners, as well as the knowledge required to effectively advocate for more stringent laws and informed government policies in Ontario. The long-term objective is to replicate these initiatives across Canada through similar partnerships. WCH has a proven history of transforming the healthcare system by developing, testing, and scaling up innovative models of care guided by ground-breaking research. At the core of their mission is their commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of women, racialized groups and unserved populations.
