About HUNNA / هُنَّ
Founded in 2021 by Océane Sailly, HUNNA / هُنَّ is a contemporary art gallery representing women artists based in the Gulf. Tackling questions of power, of the female body and its representation, of the erased mythology of the Arabian peninsula, of environmental changes, of the struggle of the youth and the weight and contradictions of cultural and societal norms, Hunna/ هُنَّ’s artists are developing cutting edge visual languages and researches that challenges through art dominant historical, social and political narratives as well as (mis)representations. HUNNA / هُنَّ aims to contribute to the vibrant art ecosystem of the Gulf while promoting our artists internationally through collaborations, exhibitions, fairs participation and publications. Since our launch, we have been inviting art critics and curators such as Wadha Al-Aqeedi, Lara Arafeh, Afnan Al-Yafaey, Beth Derderian, Juliette Lecorne, Ingrid Luquet-Gad and Elina Sairanen to collaborate with us hence creating a network of young and brilliant art professionals from the Gulf and abroad while offering new perspectives on our artists' practices. Initially launched online, Hunna Art has organized and co-organized the following five exhibitions in 2022 in Dubai and participated in 2023 in MENART fair (February, Brussels) and Art Dubai (March, Dubai). Hunna Art has been featured in numerous magazines and platforms such as Mathqaf, Middle East Monitor, Gulf Today, The National, Time Out Dubai, and others. Our artist's works are part of prominent private and institutional collections in Europe and in the Arabian Peninsula.
