HybridAero is developing configuration optimisation tools for aircraft with electric propulsion. Our work to date in this area shows how critical configuration optimisation is due to the discontinuous and multi-modal nature of the design space. Our path to full airframe design puts us in the unique position to collaborate with component manufacturers on the impact of their technology on overall configuration, and how their development can be tailored for optimised airframe performance, as opposed component level performance.
