The Hydrogen Center is a new independent department of the University of Pécs, dealing with hydrogen technologies and the hydrogen economy. In addition to research and development activities related to hydrogen technologies, our main goal is to plan and implement hydrogen production, storage and use based on renewable energies in as detailed a way as possible in the framework of demonstration projects. The development of hydrogen-based energy communities is still an immature area, and we will look in detail at the economic, legal and social aspects, as well as the technical challenges. We work with a wide range of universities, research institutes and industrial partners to develop and successfully apply an up-to-date knowledge base, a practical approach and real-world problem solving to the implementation of hydrogen-based investments. The Hydrogen Center unit was made possible by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a multi-university and multi-institutional collaboration on hydrogen and fuel cells, among other things.
