Hydromine Pty Ltd are developing Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) projects using old/abandoned mines. By using the existing infrastructure of old mines, we can develop these projects within months rather than years and at a fraction of the cost of traditional PHES projects.
Not only do we provide a second commercial life for these mines, we also create jobs in the mining regions and rehabilitate the mine sites cost effectively in a meaningful fashion. Since we are operating a closed loop system, we can operate independently of drought conditions.
Large coal mines provide a capacity of up to 6,000MW and/or up to 36,000MWh.
These deep storage projects are 100% renewable as we source our energy for pumping the water from solar PV or wind resources.
