HySEas is a three-year EU-funded project that brings together 8 partners from 6 countries to develop a new, sustainable method to produce green hydrogen directly from seawater. Unlike traditional approaches that can damage equipment and harm marine ecosystems, HySEas uses an advanced Bipolar Membrane (BPM) to carefully control how ions move during electrolysis. This makes the process cleaner, safer, and more efficient.
HySEas aims to overcome the efficiency and material challenges of seawater electrolysis, offering a durable and cost-effective solution for green hydrogen production. The project objectives align with EU goals for climate neutrality and green transition.
