As the 2017 D-Health Fellowship Alumni, I-Ophthalmology completed a clinical immersion at Hospital Clinic, Ophthalmology in Barcelona. Our team established that the biggest unmet need facing the profession today is a global lack of ophthalmologists. Allowing patients to access ophthalmology care in real-time when they need it can be that important difference between visual impairment and the ability to drive your kids to school safely.
I-Ophthalmology therefore, created smart, same day ophthalmology which requires less hands-on time from an individual ophthalmologist whilst meeting the needs of more patients. Our technology (AI) which is in development pre-screens the severity of acute eye conditions in less then 2 minutes, which is then validated by real - time ophthalmologists hence creating an efficient and accurate ophthalmic care ecosystem. I-Ophthalmology aspires to be part of a global solution to reach patients in parts of the world that would not ordinarily have access to eye care and are at the highest risk for visual impairment.
