NODE is a multidisciplinary student team from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), founded by ex-IAAC faculty Marita Georganta as a means to encourage architecture students to apply their creativity in engineering. With backgrounds in architecture, design, and engineering, we explore the intersection of digital fabrication, marine autonomy, and robotic systems.
NODE's first project is ASKET, an autonomous surface vessel (ASV), participating in the Njord 2025 Autonomous Ship Championship. ASKET features a custom 3D-printed hull, real-time sensor fusion, and adaptive robotic control. While rooted in architecture, our team is driven by the belief that anyone can build advanced technology when tools, knowledge, and resources are openly shared.
We’re making every part of our process open-source—from design files to software—to enable learning, experimentation, and collaboration across disciplines. This project is for students, educators, makers, and resourceful teams with big ideas and limited means—anyone ready to dive into autonomy and proudly say: “I built that.”
