Het Instituut van de Auto-Experts heeft tot doel te waken over de opleiding en te voorzien in de bestendige organisatie van een korps van specialisten die bekwaam zijn de functie van auto-expert te vervullen zoals die bepaald is bij artikel 4 van de wet tot erkenning en bescherming van het beroep van auto-expert, met al de vereiste waarborgen inzake bekwaamheid, onafhankelijkheid en beroepseer, en het oefent toezicht uit op de behoorlijke uitvoering van de aan de leden toevertrouwde opdrachten.
