Welcome to the New International Airport of Heraklion, Crete linkedin page. The New International Airport of Heraklion in Kasteli area is to replace the existing "Nikos Kazantzakis Airport” and will be constructed according to a set of technical and operational specifications to meet current and future transportation needs throughout the concession period. It will be Greece's second busiest airport. The new airport will have a new 3200m runway parallel to the existing one and will be operational in less than 4 years (2027). The tender for the construction and management of the airport was awarded to Ariadne Airport Group, comprising of GEK TERNA and GMR Infrastructure. The Airport is expected to be handling more than 18.000.000 passengers and will be the second greenfield airport to be constructed in Greece, focusing in Sustainability, optimization of energy and carbon footprint, state of the art technology, optimum level of service and continuous exploitation of Aeronautical and Non Aeronautical sectors.
