Mit dem „Institut für Anwendungen des maschinellen Lernens und intelligenter Systeme“ (IAMLIS) gründete die Hochschule München ihr viertes Forschungsinstitut.
Die sechs Gründungsprofessoren sind Prof. Dr. Peter Krzystek und Prof. Dr. Andreas Schmitt von der Fakultät für Geoinformation, Prof. Dr. Peter Mandl, Prof. Dr. Georg Peters und Prof. Dr. Lars Wischhof von der Fakultät Informatik und Mathematik sowie Prof. Dr. Alfred Schöttl von der Fakultät für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik.
Die Zielsetzung ist die Intensivierung der Forschungsaktivitäten in den Anwendungsbereichen verteilte Systeme, Text Mining Clusteranalyse, mehrstufige Entscheidungssysteme im Umfeld dynamischer Systeme, vernetzte intelligente Transportsysteme, Automotive/Ambient Assisted Living (Assistenzroboter) und Forst.
