In Ghent, the education in malting and brewing technology from Ghent University and HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts is organised in one common place: the Innovation centre for Brewing & Fermentation (IBF) at Campus Schoonmeersen. This brewing education of the Ghent University Association goes back to 1886, making it the oldest in Ghent. Linked to this, there is a long tradition of brewing research and industrial services for the Belgian brewing sector, ranging from small to large breweries, and malt houses to suppliers.
