We have twenty years of experience with developing, securing, deploying, and hosting leading technologies for the Internet of Things. Along this journey, we realized the system underlying Internet security, a system called "Public Key Infrastructure" (PKI), was broken. PKI has multiple vulnerabilities and governance challenges that are particularly problematic in IoT use cases. Our research led us to develop fundamental technology for blockchains that enables every system, no matter how resource constrained, to directly validate and interact with a blockchain without requiring heavy weight full nodes or centralized proxies.
