About International Conference from Scientific Computing to Computational Engineering
The Learning Foundation in Mechatronics (LFME), based in Athens, Greece, is a non-profit organization established in 2012 by Prof. Demosthenes (Demos) Theodoros Tsahalis, after his resignation in 2011 from a full-professorship position in the University of Patras, Greece, a position he held since 1988. At the University of Patras, he also established the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Energy in 1990 and served as its director until 2011. LFME’s establishment, with its objective of studying / promoting the synergies of sciences and technologies towards creating / providing systems / products serving the mankind in the broadest sense under the “all-encompassing” term of “mechatronics”, came as a natural consequence of the professional activities and experiences of Prof. Tsahalis. A precursor event was the establishment by Prof. Tsahalis of two series of biennial conferences, specifically: International Conference “from Scientific Computing to Computational Engineering, IC-SCCE, started in 2004, and International Conference in “Experiments \ Process \ System Modeling \ Simulation \ Optimization”, IC-EPSMSO, started in 2005. The success of these two conference series strengthened the motivation for establishing LFME, which will also be the organizer of these conferences.
