Including Children Affected by Migration in Schools. Enabling ALL Children Affected by Migration to access the education which is their right. Before displaced and disturbed children can benefit from learning and teaching in a new setting their social and emotional wellbeing MUST first be restored A whole school and family programme. ICAM programme is promoted by Eurochild and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and is adopted for Europe-wide dissemination by Terre des Hommes, (The Swiss UNICEF). The latest EU guidance 'Supporting the inclusion of displaced children from Ukraine in education' has a section recommending the ICAM programme and referring to it as “Inspiring practice”. Enabling effective support for children by all school staff and parents/carers ICAM provides and delivers an effective cascade coaching programme, with handbooks and training materials for training national, or regional facilitators and enabling them to successfully run coaching workshops for school leaders in whole school improvements which: • improve the inclusion of Children Affected by Migration by applying practical organisation developments which are known to enhance the climate of convivencia in school and at home, • provide additional support in school and in the family for restoring the social and emotional wellbeing of Children Affected by Migration • raise awareness about children’s rights and the law protecting them. • help ensure safe, secure and responsible behaviour including a reduction in instances of bullying and the misuse of the internet and social media. ICAM programme rebuilds learning relationships and this includes a partnership with parents and carers with school run workshops to help them continue improving social and emotional wellbeing and learning capacity in the home
