We are the Independent Centre for the Digital Economy and Finance. Our mission is to encourage and distribute independent, reliable and empirical research into cryptocurrencies, DeFi, Web3.0, the digital economy and finance.
We gather research publications by independent experts and institutions to foster a clearer understanding of the opportunities and implications of blockchain-related financial innovation. We aim to draw together and digest the latest developments in law, regulation and policy from around the world, collected into one place for our readers to access as quickly and as simply as possible.
That's why ICDEF's core service is the Research Database. Here you can find all the papers we have selected. These will by definition have been published elsewhere first - we bring them together, tag them with relevant labels, and provide a short abstract to contextualise them: setting out what the research piece says and why we think that adds something to the field.
ICDEF also powers BlockAnalysis – a quarterly newsletter to help readers understand how the different moving parts of this space join together. Not minute-by-minute industry updates or policy developments – but the way they fit together and what that might mean for everyone who takes part.
Should ICDEF develop the capacity, we hope to support IRL interactions as well: providing affiliations for speakers, putting on events, and ultimately publishing research directly.
ICDEF was founded to support the transparent development of robust and trustworthy analysis of the cryptocurrency space for users, industry providers and policy-makers: and to encourage fact-based debate between them.
