IceAlert® Sensors Alert Workers and Customers of Icy Conditions Every year, ice and snow cause over 42,000 lost-time workplace injuries. Stairwells, parking lots sidewalks, and roadways become workplace hazards when ice is undetected.    Injuries from falls can be serious, debilitating, or even deadly. IceAlert® sensors change color when the temperature falls below freezing.  IceAlert® sensors provide visible evidence that icy conditions are present, so workers and customers know that extra caution is needed. These sensors should be installed in parking lots, near building exits, on access roadways, bridges, foot paths, and stairwells. These sensors provide critical real-time information to help employees and patrons avoid debilitating falls and accidents.   HeatAlert® Sensors Alert People When the Heat Index is Dangerous Another workplace hazard is excessive heat either from the weather or from industrial processes.  NOAA/OSHA and NWS (National Weather Service) identify excessive heat as the silent killer.  Workplace heat injuries have been on the rise for decades. Over 600 people die every year, from heat illness and thousands more suffer debilitating heat related injuries.   The heat index is the metric that determines the degree of danger from excessive heat. The heat index is a combined mathematical calculation of both the temperature and humidity. HeatAlert® Monitoring Stations continually measure and calculate the heat index. When the index reaches a moderate danger level an amber strobe light flashes, when the index reaches a high danger level the strobe light is red.  HeatAlert® alerts all employees or athletes that the index has reached a dangerous level so precautions can be taken to lower the risk of heat illness.  HeatAlert® sensors also send an email to supervisors or coaches notifying them of the dangerous heat index.    NOAA/OSHA is placing more emphasis on the silent killer, (heat illness) to make work environments and sports training facilitie
