נציבות שוויון זכויות לאנשים עם מוגבלות היא יחידה עצמאית במשרד המשפטים, שקמה מכוח חוק שוויון זכויות לאנשים עם מוגבלות (1998), אשר פועלת למניעת אפליה ולקידום השתלבותם של אנשים עם מוגבלות בחברה הישראלית. בין תפקידיה של הנציבות:
• קידום חקיקה ומדיניות
• אכיפת חוק השוויון ותקנות הנגישות
• מניעת אפליה
• הטמעה וניטור אחר יישום האמנה הבינלאומית בדבר זכויות של אנשים עם מוגבלות
• מענה משפטי לפניות ציבור, הגשת כתבי אישום, תביעות ותובענות אזרחיות
• הפעלת מוקד שירות ומידע הנותן מענה לכ -8000 פניות ציבור בשנה
• קידום תעסוקת אנשים עם מוגבלות ואכיפת יעדי ייצוג הולם במגזר הציבורי
• קידום ההשתלבות של אנשים עם מוגבלות בחברה הישראלית במגוון תחומי החיים
• פיתוח של ידע מקצועי, חומרי הדרכה והסברה
• הפקה של פעולות הסברה וקמפיינים לשינוי עמדות כלפי אנשים עם מוגבלות והגברת המודעות הציבורית לזכויותיהם
• פעילות בזירה הבינלאומית
The Commission of Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities is an independent body under the Ministry of Justice. It works to prevent discrimination and promote the integration of PWD into Israeli society. The commission is responsible for implementing laws and policies for the betterment of PWD. The commission also oversees the implementation of the International Convention of Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities after its ratification by the State of Israel.
