The Identity Valley Initiative is a European reaction to the hype of Silicon Valley. Where technological developments are chasing each other at a rapid pace, where digital technology is becoming a maxim, where the merging of the digital and the real world takes place. Is digitization everything? Europe is "the valley" for a credible, transparent and value-based digital economy. The Identity Valley (IDV) brings together business, science and society. The aim of the non-profit platform is to protect personal identity, to promote mutual trust and to enable digital innovation - for man and machine. In understanding identity as the nucleus of value-based digitization, we create opportunities for a European digital economy. Digital technologies have the potential to improve people‘s lives. At the same time, the Internet and digital technologies bring negative side effects. Technological innovations and the use of innovative technologies must therefore be geared more to the wellbeing of people and society in the future than is already the case today. As a benchmark for players in the digital space, the Digital Responsibility Goals attempt to define this framework and work toward a trusting, ethically sensitive and sustainable digital transformation. The Digital Responsibility Goals pursue an integrative and combined approach of all relevant actors in order to promote trust in digital technologies and business models. The Digital Responsibility Goals are accompanied by a guideline to measure the degree of successful value-based digital transformation, to strengthen the responsibility of digital players and to give participants clear guidance for their digital strategies.
