About IDN Liveable Cities
LIVEABLE CITIES FOR ALL The Liveable Cities Taskforce is dedicated to promoting good practices in spatial planning, urban planning, urban design, landscape and architecture for Indonesian cities, with the purpose of matchmaking stakeholders with the proposal makers, and to accelerate the implementations of good practice initiatives and proposals. Indonesian cities today are facing rapid growth, but without a clear direction. So how will your city look like in the future? Current problems include fragmented, unsustainable, commercial development; lack of open green space; lack of public transportation; urban poverty; lack of preventive measures for natural disasters; natural habitat disappearance; destruction of historical and traditional buildings. The 'Liveable Cities' taskforce would like to set long-term goals for Indonesian Cities, where Indonesian cities are more sustainable, more human-oriented, more exciting to live, work and play: e.g. Smart Ecological High density development, preserving nature; coexistence of rich traditional architecture with civilization; excellent public transportation; many green public spaces offering diverse activities; urban villages with characters that act as oasis for the whole city; flood-ready measures for buildings and neighborhoods. There are currently four main topics under ‘Liveable Cities’ that we find essential to address for the future development of our cities. 1. Affordable Housing and Urban Renewal 2. Integrated Water and Landscape Planning 3. Heritage & Conservation 4. Rural Development
