The IFreedomLab project has three main areas of activity:
Campaigning. We undertake investigations to unveil malicious practices of the big tech companies in Russia and persuade them to respect their users' digital rights. In many cases, Instead of the excessive and often belated regulation, the companies themself can become more responsible and benefit from it. For example, our most known campaign to persuade cellular companies to stop mobile subscription fraud got more than 33000 signs on change.org. It led to the tangible reduction of such types of fraud. We also investigated the personal data black market and started discussing using AI for marketing purposes.
Translation. We, iFreedomLab, aim to make open-source products for privacy and data protection understandable in Russian and support Russian translation. We translated the FAQ for Mailvelope, Tails, Tor Browser, Psiphon and other resources.
Monitoring. We monitor the web connectivity of the Russian internet segment with other parts of the global network and collect data on additional parameters like the number of telecom licences in Russia and AS.
