The Institution of Green Engineers (IGEN), connects green professionals worldwide, working towards SDG goals and providing solutions for a sustainable greener future through the 9 color nonagon VIBBGGYOR society. It is a UNDESA NGO, 12A, 80G, CSR, and NITI Aayog accredited institution working on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The core work of this society is more oriented towards SDG- 3,4,6,7,9,11,12,13 & 17. The Young Professional Community within IGEN serves as an apex body with a specialized focus. This segment plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainability goals through three main pillars: 1. Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry: One of the foremost challenges in the field of sustainability is the gap between academic research and practical implementation. The Young Professional Community serves as a bridge, facilitating collaboration and knowledge exchange between the academic and industrial sectors. This ensures that innovative ideas from research are translated into real-world solutions. 2. Climate Advocacy: Climate change is an existential threat, and effective advocacy is crucial. The Young Professional Community, with its fresh perspectives and passion, actively advocates for policies and actions that mitigate climate change. This advocacy extends to raising awareness among the public and influencing decision-makers to prioritize climate action. 3. Energy Literacy: Energy literacy is essential to drive sustainable energy consumption and production. The Young Professional Community takes a proactive stance in promoting energy literacy, educating individuals and communities about energy-efficient practices, renewable energy sources, and the importance of responsible energy consumption.
