IGMR - RWTH Aachen University

The Institute of Mechanism Theory, Machine Dynamics and Robotics (IGMR) of the Rheinisch-Westfälischen Technischen Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen exists since 1959. In education and research the employees of the IGMR focus on analysis, design and optimization of all kinds of mechanisms. This diversity is shown specifically by the mechanism lexicon (e.g. cam gears, crank gears, wheels and traction drives as well as their combinations). The IGMR is a competent partner to solve kinematic, dynamic or vibration problems for all kinds of mechanisms. The IGMRs expertise is evident in structure and measurement synthesis as well as tolerance analysis, metrology, drive technology (e.g. electronic cam disk) cam gears, path planning and motion design. To solve interdisciplinary research problems, the IGMR is involved in collaborations with departments within the RWTH-Aachen and other universities as well as industrial partners.
