IHI is a pioneer in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies for coal-fired power stations and has been developing the IHI oxyfuel technology since 1989. The culmination of 20 years of research and development, field studies and demonstration projects, the Callide Oxyfuel Project was established in 2008. With a target of demonstrating how we can adapt our existing coal-fired power stations to produce low-emission electricity, oxyfuel for CCS technology was developed and implemented at CS Energy's existing Callide A Power Station in Queensland, Australia.
