Our History
The concept of having a credit union was birthed in the mind of Mr. Leon Leacock who was the then Personnel Manager at Winsure Insurance Company.
Winsure, at the time of its existence, had a small credit union supervised by Mr. Leacock. After Winsure went into receivership, Mr. Leacock approached Mr. David Lee-a-Ping, the then President of the Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Institute, to discuss the possibility of having a credit union for the entire insurance industry. This idea was tossed around for some time until the IICU was born on November 3, 1986.
