El Instituto está constituido por el Servicio Madrileño de Salud (SERMAS), a través del Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón, que representa el núcleo básico del Instituto, y grupos del ámbito de Atención Primaria del área de influencia del Hospital, por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UCIII MADRID), la Fundación para la investigación biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón (FIBHGM) y la Dirección General de Investigación, Formación e Infraestructuras Sanitarias de la Consejería de Sanidad de la Comunidad de Madrid.
