IIT InfoSchol Programme

Launched in 1997 under the visionary leadership of Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe, Chairman of IIT, the InfoSchol Programme is a distinctive and highly successful scholarship and work-study initiative in collaboration with leading corporate sponsors. This program has empowered hundreds of students to pursue IT-related degrees, culminating in a bachelor’s degree from a prestigious British partner university. What makes InfoSchol truly unique is its dual approach: students receive an academic scholarship from corporate sponsors throughout their five years of study while simultaneously engaging in full-time internships with these sponsors. In addition to gaining invaluable industry experience, participants also earn a monthly stipend. The primary objective of the InfoSchol Programme is to provide access to higher education for students facing challenges such as financial difficulties or limited state university admissions. Beyond this, the program seeks to identify and nurture local talent, developing the next generation of entrepreneurs, visionaries, and changemakers.
