ILERA Apothecary is a fast-growing beauty start-up. We specialize in African plant-based skincare that grows your confidence. Our products are organic, vegan, and made with ethically-sourced ingredients. We take pride in using ingredients that are found naturally in West Africa. CEO and Founder Chinonye Akunne established ILERA Apothecary based on her Nigerian heritage. The name ILERA — meaning health, derives from Yoruba, a national language in Nigeria. The word apothecary was inspired by her family line of pharmacists. All ILERA Apothecary products are made in-house at our headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Our most commonly used ingredients include shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil. These ingredients provide healing benefits for all skin types, as do all our products alike.
