GTL Resources / Illinois River Energy is a bio-refining company focused on delivering sustainable and innovative solutions to address our nation’s food, feed, and fuel challenges. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Illinois River Energy located in Rochelle, Illinois, GTL operates a dry grind corn bio-refinery that processes approximately 44 million bushels of corn annually into 125 million gallons of fuel grade ethanol, 85 million pounds of inedible corn oil for the biodiesel and animal feed markets, and 340 thousand tons of distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) for the animal feed market. IRE began production in December 2006. In August 2007, expansion of the plant to increase production capacity from a 50 million gallons per year plant over a 120 million gallons plant. The Plant The IRE plant is located on an 81 acre site in southeast Rochelle at 1900 Steward Road. The site was annexed by the city of Rochelle and granted Industry 2 zoning. The IRE facility has a positive economic effect on the entire community due to the increased value of corn, real estate taxes, and 60 new jobs created with an annual payroll of approximately $3 million.
