The Younger Member Group (YMG) of the ASCE IL Section is a group of individuals under the age of 35 committed to the professional development of Illinois Section young members.
We offer our members opportunities to establish professional contacts through networking, develop their careers, and attend fun social and volunteering events. We also provide a bridge between student chapters and the IL Section.
Throughout the year, the YMG organizes monthly dinner meetings on a variety of topics, social events such as trivia nights and happy hours, volunteering opportunities with local food pantries and STEM groups, hosts joint events with other professional organizations in the Chicago area, and organizes a semi-yearly PE exam review course. Our most popular activities are the Annual Bags Tournament, the Holiday Party, and the PE Review Course.
Our group was just recognized as the ASCE National 2017 Younger Member Group Award for our “outstanding professional, technical, social, outreach, and community service activities on behalf of the Illinois Section.” We could not have won this award without the dedication of our YMG members and past and present board/directors! Thank you for all your efforts!
