ILS Human Rights Cell

Human rights are the bedrock of our existence, essential for our very survival as a species. Recognizing this fundamental truth, ILS Law College took a bold step in 2008-09 by establishing the Human Rights Centre. With the distinguished leadership of Justice S. Rajendra Babu, former Chief Justice of India and Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, this center stands as a beacon, championing the cause of human dignity and justice. The cell is a student run body who are engaged in several activities, catering to the interests of students who want to learn and explore more about human rights. The cell aims to provide a “forum where students are able to further their knowledge of modern correctional issues and to bring their classroom learning to life” Activities organized under the Cell are: Visit to Orphanage, Deepgriha Society’s ‘City of Child’- Yavat on 15th August and 26th January Jail Visit (Yerawada Central Jail, Pune) National /State Level Seminar Human Rights Day Celebrations Weekly presentations by students on various topics like Domestic Violence, Right to Information, Sex workers in India etc., Movie Screening
