Inspired by institutionalists such as Oliver Williamson, Douglass North, Daron Acemoglu & James Robinson, chairholder Albrecht Söllner and his team deal with the “rules of the game” of globalization. The overall goal of our activities is to analyze and shape the rules of organizations and societies in a globally competitive world to foster innovation, responsibility and eventually promoting confidence in our economy and democracy.
The chair offers research-based classes for both graduate and undergraduate students as well as Ph.D. candidates with a focus on (1) institutional economics, (2) innovation management & entrepreneurship and (3) globalization & sustainability. As part of our teaching principles, the team complements fundamental courses with interactive seminars that include practical case studies, excursions and guest lectures from organizational partners and other relevant stakeholders, to prepare students for future challenges in a global environment. Feedback and an open and critical exchange are core elements of the chair's philosophy.
