Imagine Science Films is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in existence since 2008 committed to celebrating process and output at the intersection of science and film.
Since 2008, Imagine Science Films hosts the annual Science New Wave Festival in New York that showcases the latest crop of motion pictures (documentary, fiction, animation, video art, installation, VR/AR & hybrid). During the festival, the Symbiosis initiative, supported by the Simons Foundation, pairs scientists and filmmakers to spark singular new forms of science cinema. Imagine Science Films is committed also to bringing cinema to diverse audiences and venues through its satellite programs and partnerships with museums, schools, and art-science organizations in New York and beyond.
The core ISF mission is showcases science-themed cinema in all its flavors, challenging stereotypes in scientific representation and celebrating diversity in form and content. It embraces to the fullest the traits of the Science New Wave movement (sciencenewwave.com), where scientific pursuit is free to co-exist and blend freely across disciplines and cultures.
