Established in 1986 through the transformation of the Department of Mathematics, which was founded in 1953, IMCS has emerged as a center of excellence for education and research in the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Our institute has evolved dynamically over the years, shaping the academic landscape by offering cutting-edge programs and fostering a culture of research and inquiry. At its core, IMCS comprises two major components: Mathematics and Computer Science. Since its inception, IMCS has been dedicated to fostering an environment of learning and discovery, preparing students to excel in the realms of academia and industry. The curricula of our Computer Science programs adhere to the HEC Computing Curriculum 2023, ensuring our students receive education in line with the latest industry standards.
Our journey began with the development of research programs for M.Phil./MS and Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1991. This commitment to advanced research and higher learning was further extended to Computer Science with the introduction of M.Phil./MS in 2003 and Ph.D. in 2015. The addition of M.Phil./MS in Bioinformatics in 2013 further exemplified our dedication to interdisciplinary studies.
IMCS offers a comprehensive range of programs to cater to diverse academic interests. From the 4-year Bachelor's programs in Mathematics and Computer Science (BS Mathematics and BS Computer Science) to the 2-year Master's programs (M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Computer Science, and Master of Computer Science), we provide students with rigorous academic curricula that blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
