Imidibaniso is an issue-driven page by the South African Research Chair in Science Communication (SciCom). This page aims to focus on the use of science communications as a tool to achieving social justice in South Africa, Africa and the Global South. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the Chair seeks to bridge the gap between citizen engagements and science innovations to meet growing challenges that will determine lived experiences in the 21st century mainly: climate change, quality of life, equity and equality.
SciCom is funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). The Chair is currently held by Professor Mehita Iqani at Stellenbosch University’s Department of Journalism, South Africa.
