Immigrant Scholars Organization (ISO) is an organization at FIU for immigrants and students interested in migration studies. Our goal is to encourage migrant and immigrant students to continue their studies in higher education by providing them with resources, knowledge, and a community that will support them academically & emotionally. It is open to students who are migrants or come from immigrant families, as well as any other respectful student who is looking to learn about the complexities of the immigrant experience.
We strongly believe that diversity and multiculturalism is the reason why our world is as beautiful as it is, that’s why we provide a space where people can feel safe practicing their culture. Immigrants provide different perspectives and bring new knowledge which would highly benefit academia, and the rest of our society. Founded by Alicia Rosales.
