Improving Generational Outcomes (i:go) is a community interest company whose aims are to improve life outcomes, empower and raise aspirations for young people. We have many years experience of supporting young people and they have told us many times that they wish to learn at home and that they often feel unprepared for independent living. We took what we had heard and have produced a flexible home study programme called Prepped. The programme consists of 3 separate Units: Prepped for Parenthood, Prepped for Life and Prepped for the Future. In these units young people can undertake modules that will increase their knowledge and confidence in a range of basic but highly important and relevant topics that include: being healthy mentally and physically, to be safe online and in the real world, to take part in society and our democracy, plan for the future and independence, and plan a career and make themselves work-ready. The Programme is available online and so can be home studied, and it can be supported by a trained tutor-mentor to ensure understanding and the embedding of knowledge, and to enable signposting/referral to other agencies where necessary.
