Incell is an interdisciplinary team of 13 students, representing the University of Copenhagen in the international iGEM competition 2017.
Incell investigates the molecular mechanisms in endosymbiotic cell-relationships. The team applies a new bottom up approach to the field of current research, by individually studying three essential properties, necessary for a stable endosymbiotic relationship; protein-transport from the host cell to endosymbiont, the dependency between host cell and endosymbiont, and the control of a number of endosymbionts within the host cell.
The aim is to establish a platform for future artificial endosymbiosis, which can have many applications in the medical-, synthetic biology-, and agricultural industry.
