The heritage of denim is inseparable from the dye of India; Indigo. The ancient craft of Indigo is a cultural practice which originated in the Indus Valley civilisation, and has been passed on through generations of master craftsmen in the west and south regions of India.
Drawing inspiration from the heritages of the craft of indigo and the industrial innovation of denim, we offer a platform for specialisation in the same, which has been much ignored in design academia. Indenium School of Responsible Design is a specially curated learning experience that focuses on the union of denim, indigo and lifestyles they’re associated with, while addressing the need-of-the-hour approach in fashion with reformed ethics and aesthetics.
At Indenium, our endeavour is to connect the ever-growing denim lifestyle and street fashion industry and its appetite for creativity in textiles, apparel, branding, presentation and communication by enabling visionary designers and product development specialists with their hearts aligned to their works.
Our pedagogy is aligned to involve our students at the core of development through engaging experience with designers, artisans, industry and entrepreneurs, and constant mentoring from our esteemed mentors.
Our understanding of sustainability is that of responsible, circular design-to-product thinking and lifestyle, rooted in the ethics of ancient craft and wholesome goodness towards not only the products, but also the ecosystem and its people; from makers to consumers. This is the vast scope of implementation in the industry towards a clean future, which we imbibe in our curriculum.
We encourage our future designers to develop this approach while learning and creating, giving them the right exposure to the grass-root craft practices as well as latest technological developments in the industry through our various partnerships and associations.
