Vimor was started in 1974 by Mrs. Chimy Nanjappa and Mrs. Pavithra Muddaya to revive, document and promote traditional handloom saree motifs, techniques and to record the oral histories relating to them. In these 45 years, Vimor has effectively empowered generations of weavers to sustain their legacy skills in commercially viable ways. Vimor has also extended them mentorial, design and financial assistance so they could further establish themselves as master weavers and entrepreneurs.
