Independence Defense Journal

I established The Independence Defense Journal as an opportunity to share my views and publications, both academic and opinion to the larger defense and business community. Having over 20 years within the Department of Defense my experiences have helped shape my views and opinions as we continue our fight against terrorism. As a civilian and military intelligence officer, I have extensive experience in special warfare, counter-terrorism and counterinsurgency operations in the Middle East, Asia and South Asia. I feel it's essential that we continue to evaluate, analyze and challenge strategic and operational strategies as the spread of Islamic terrorism continues to grow. Part of this discussion is the discussion of defense spending, acquisitions and future of warfare. My Public Policy section is an off-shoot and is meant to capture ongoing issues within the Federal, State and Local government. No topic is off limit. As a business executive, I am also including my work within business management, project management, job seeking and workplace improvement techniques and strategies. There is no specific format for the Journal and I expect it to stay this way. In the past, I have written on topics I have encountered in the course of my daily life. The focus areas range from business, education, public policy, and national defense. There is no agenda here, just straight forward pieces on how I view specific issues across a spectrum of ideas and positions. - Greg Lewis
