Efforts focused on design and development of a quantum computer. Preliminary design was validated by the leading independent superconducting electronics corporation vice president of engineering, which resulted in stage one funding. Progress was development of a machine simulator and programming language. First conceptually envisioned by the late physicist Richard P. Feynman, the quantum computer is a device that harnesses the “strangeness” of sub-atomic processes for computational purposes. Herein a novel quantum computer design paradigm is disclosed, which is based upon creating, detecting, and manipulating decohered quantum interference mixed states. We differentiate this approach from the current quantum computer design paradigm, which attempts to prevent quantum decoherence, by calling it a Type-2 device. The Type-2 quantum computing device is based upon the mesoscopic quantum measurement phenomena. In the Type-2 machine computational state is implemented by manipulating the unique interference of the quantum mixed state of one or more interacting quantum quasi particles. The quasi particle interference pattern is to the Type-2 machine what a qubit (quantum bit) is to a Type-1 machine. An infinity of different detectable states may be generated and controlled using the Type-2 approach. Indeed, this paradigm results in a machine that is Turing complete, which is the definition of a computational system that is capable of computing any function. All Type-2 quantum computing devices are implemented as aperture synthesized arrays of quantum interferometers coincident with subpicosecond pulsed vertical cavity surface emitting laser photonic data encoders. A quantum interferometer is any instrument that uses interference phenomena between a reference wave and an experimental wave or between two parts of an experimental wave to determine wavelengths and wave velocities. The Niobium superconducting Type-2 computational substrate is a Bose Einstein Condensate.
