The Indian Optometric Association represents approximately 12,000 doctors of optometry, optometry students and paraoptometric assistants and technicians. Optometrists serve patients in nearly 6,500 communities across the country, and in 3,500 of those communities are the only eye doctors. Doctors of optometry provide two-thirds of all primary eye care in the India.
Our vision is to provide world class optometry services making high quality eye and vision care accessible to all people across India.
In order to achieve our vision, our mission is to facilitate the development of optometry around all over India and support optometrists in promoting eye health and vision care as a human right through advocacy, education, policy development and humanitarian outreach.
