About Indigenous Engineering Students' Association
The Indigenous Engineering Students’ Association aims to develop our current and future Indigenous students from the Faculty of Engineering into exceptional engineers and role models through collaboration with other Indigenous students and groups at the University of Alberta. The IESA aspires to assist one another with our goals, mentor and inspire youth in primary and secondary education, and provide cultural growth through outreach in the community. The group's creation was a collaboration of undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty who wanted to provide a safe and welcoming place for our Indigenous students and foster a sense of belonging and understanding. The group is entering a rebuilding phase and is currently recruiting new members within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta. Our hope is that the number of Indigenous students enrolled in engineering will continue to grow with the help of the IESA, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and the University of Alberta.
