Indoor Recess

In light of the inevitable Covid-induced internship cancelations and hiring freezes, we banded together to organize Indoor Recess — a virtual pitch competition for those ready to learn and make a dent in the ad world, but instead finding themselves stuck on the couch binge-watching Netflix or baking their fifth loaf of sourdough. Throughout its three summer Sessions, Indoor Recess ensures that everyone can show off their skills and collaborate across multiple industry functions. Ten teams of eight participants each come together solve a real client ask over a two-week work period. Participants work in a specific role (copywriter, art director, strategist, account lead or project manager) based on their career aspirations. Indoor Recess also provides a collection of industry professionals ready to mentor the teams and judge the final pitches. This program was created by six recent grads and young guns — Johnny Thai, Isabella Courtenay-Morris, Emily Gorey, Joy Darlene Mangat, Clayton Hutton and Jiaman (Maggie) Peng.
