INESCTEC.OCEAN

INESCTEC.OCEAN is the first Portuguese Centre of Excellence fully dedicated to the sea and sea-related emerging sectors. Our mission is to become a global leader in Ocean Research & Engineering, promoting R&D+I in areas such as Ocean Energy, Marine Infrastructures, Marine Robotics and Ocean Data. Guided by the ultimate purpose of sea-related knowledge creation and transfer, INESCTEC.OCEAN strives for an active collaboration with academia, industry, policymakers, and civil society on the pursuit of a sustainable future, built upon a strong Blue Economy. The endeavour officially started in January 2025 and is the direct result of the ambitions of a four-member consortium, led by INESC TEC, a Portuguese Associate Laboratory with 40 years of experience in R&D and technology transfer. The project is under the mentorship of SINTEF Ocean, the world-renowned Norwegian R&D centre for sea research, and also includes partners Fórum Oceano – the Portuguese Sea Cluster – and APDL – the Douro, Leixões and Viana Ports Authority.
